hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES how to train your dragon)
on Friday I saw The King's Speech. BRILLIANT. It moved me, filled my eyes with tears, made me laugh at times, it was gorgeous (cinematography & music), the actors were perfect. Give Colin Firth his Oscar already.

Yesterday I saw Black Swan. I arrived 30 min early and there was no tickets left! The King's Speech was full too. Meanwhile, Rien à Déclarer was at 19:30, 20:00 and 21:00 and there was a lot of tickets left for each time. It made me feel like "yay people have good taste" (ok I admit I haven't seen this and shouldn't judge but...) but also "boo, why does it get so many theaters". Anyway, we bought tickets for the 22:15 Black Swan screening, which was full too in the end! I thought it was a great movie, it looked fabulous, the actors were amazing (omg Natalie Portman. But Vincent Cassel was A+ too, and Mila Kunis, and everyone). But it was really freaky and stressful so idk how much I liked it you know? And I'm no wuss but parts of it were really scary or made me cringe (not in a "this is bad" way! in a "eww" or "ouch" way lol). Can a movie move you and made you feel uncomfortable at the same time? Well yes apparently.

Now I need to watch sth in which Natalie Portman is happy and lives happily ever after because I felt so bad for her character. Will probably go see No Strings Attached haha.

And then today I saw The Kids are All Right, which was alright (haha) but pretty forgettable next to the 2 I just talked about or Inception for instance.

I plan to go see 127 Hours and True Grit in theaters in the next couple of weeks. And I have acquired The Social Network (I missed it in theaters) and The Fighter and Winter's Bone (will not be released in time here). I'm gonna watch at least one of these tonight.

And then I'll be ready for the Oscars (well the best picture category)! Which I won't be able to watch live this year but whatever!

movies!

Movie meme:
Comment with “SHOWTIME!” and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your Livejournal with your favorite films of theirs.

I chose to mostly interpret this as "favorite movie in which these actors happen to star", not as "movie in which I like their performance best" if that makes sense.

[livejournal.com profile] marshmallow gave me:

The fellas:
01 - Jake Gyllenhaal : Brokeback Mountain (I also want to say Donnie Darko aaaaahhhhhhh)
02 - Morgan Freeman : Se7en
03 - Joseph Gordon-Levitt : Inception
04 - Viggo Mortenson : The Lord of the Rings
05 - Edward Norton : American History X
06 - Ewan McGregor : Moulin Rouge! (though my favorite performance of his is still Trainspotting)
07 - Brad Pitt : (lol his imdb page lists 28(!!!) in development projects) tough, he's been in a lot of movies I love... I've already said Se7en above... maybe Twelve Monkeys?
08 - Hugh Grant : Four Weddings and a Funeral (I'm not sure which one I love best, this one or Love Actually)
09 - Jason Bateman : Arrested Development: the movie Up in the Air
10 - Paul Rudd : Romeo + Juliet

The ladies:
01 - Kristen Bell : Fanboys (I've only seen her in 2 movies)
02 - Eva Green : Casino Royale
03 - Jennifer Connelly : A Beautiful Mind. Wow, I actually hate that movie. But apparently it's the only one I've seen of hers!
04 - Jane Lynch : The 40 Year Old Virgin. I've seen her a lot on TV but not in many movies!
05 - Tina Fey : Mean Girls
06 - Kate Winslet : Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2nd place: Finding Neverland)
07 - Gwyneth Paltrow : Se7en
08 - Cate Blanchett : The Lord of the Rings
09 - Nicole Kidman : Moulin Rouge!
10 - Julianne Moore : Children of Men

hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES inception JGL suit up)
I saw Inception today (and in English! score!) and LOVED it. There's nothing I didn't like about it. (maybe except like [livejournal.com profile] gabsy said, what kind of name is Mal for a woman??? haha). Everything is pretty (scenery, special effects that serve the story, music, editing, JGL in a suit...), it's a complex story but not too confusing, the cast is amazing... I want to see it again! Was sad when it ended because it was over.

a music meme I snagged from [livejournal.com profile] evilblacksheep and [livejournal.com profile] benelie

I'm reading random articles at tvtropes.org, it's quite fun and addictive and holy crap I opened dozens of tabs and ended up reading them for hours.

funny excerpts )
hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES star trek pew pew)
I'm still in a Beatles mood and rewatched A Hard Day's Night last night (which is the only Beatles movie I've seen, and I'm currently trying to obtain the others) and I had a weird dream. I was working at the Chicago Cook County with Dave Malucci (I did catch a couple of old S5 ER episodes on TV last week) and I was on my break and went to buy donuts and I chatted a while with the guy selling them. It was a young George Harrison. LOL.

2009 PICSPAMS
Part 1: New Celeb Crushes
Part 2: Favorite Books/Movies/Music

Again, no particular order. These were not necessarily released in 2009, but I watched/read them for the 1st time in 2009 or listened to them a lot. Maybe I'll edit this list if I see sth awesome before the year is over.

coming next...
Part 3: Top TV Characters
Part 4: Best TV Moments
hobbitofkobol: (30 Rock liz on LJ)
1. I'm playing the new Professor Layton game on Nintendo DS and Luke gets to take care of a hamster for a minigame. The goal is to make the hamster exercise because he's fat. And they ask you to name the hamster. Guess how I called him. HINT.

2. Do you like BSG? And awesome icons? That are funny and pretty? Then go vote at [livejournal.com profile] starttheclock's epic 100th challenge! With categories such as Best powerful/well done death or Character Who Would Have the Best Blog!

3. I made 2 BSG fanvids in 3 days. O_o And I'm quite happy with them. The fact that I kept a lot of episodes as avi even though I have the DVDs and knows the show well enough to remember which scenes are more fitting from which episode makes the process much faster.

4. Scenes from the BSG finale with isolated score. Wow.

5. I took this test pretending I was a character from Lie to Me. Scored a bit above average.

6. The Darjeeling Limited is a great movie. It looks gorgeous and I loved the editing. And the music. Surprise!Joe Dassin! lol

7. Awesome pic of Michael Hogan channeling Saul Tigh, cute Twitpic of Alyson&Jason on the set of HIMYM, amazing LOST poster

8. Casting spoilers: I don't really care about the Chuck one and the Dollhouse one made me go "shocking! lolz but awesome"

9. VERY spoilery pics from The Big Bang Theory S3 premiere. LOL at their looks and a slice of DNW.

10. Christopher Moore is doing research for a book in Paris and his blogs are hilarious. Including a reference to Psych! (mispelled "Psyche" and Shawn is mispelled "Sean" but whatever)
hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES star trek scotty finds this excit)
[Error: unknown template qotd]

My favorites are all listed!

#1 is... Battlestar Galactica *gasps* yeah try not to die of shock
#2 is Firefly/Serenity
both are among my favorite movies/shows EVER anyway

I guess #3 would be Star Wars, can't deny I grew up watching the Original Trilogy, but I don't really like episode I and II (and yet they feature Ewan McGregor!). And there are so many prequels and sequels and comics and cartoons and stuff, sometimes with different canon!

I'd never really watched Star Trek (except for a few DS9 episodes) before seeing the new movie... which I loved, but it's too fresh to be compared to anything.

I saw the Alien movies when I was quite young ("scary" movies never scared me) and liked them very much but it's been a long time since I saw one.

Not mentioned in the list: Galaxy Quest!!! mmm am I forgetting sth? I don't think so...
hobbitofkobol: (LOST dom blooper)
2 random silly things:

1/ I totally know who Gossip Girl really is.

it's so obvious! )

2/ I love Hairpray but I can't help thinking of THIS song when I listen to Without Love. (this only makes sense if you know who Les Inconnus are, meaning you're French and have not been living in a cave)

similarities! )

g2g, football is calling me! :D
hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES AtU adorable jude)
awwww how cute is Marion Cotillard?
the background music? "Samwise The Brave" from The Two Towers. I totally called it.
hobbitofkobol: (DLM pouty george)
+ + + Finally watched Hot Fuzz last night. LOVED IT. It's BRILLIANT. THAT'S comedy. Loved the short appearances of Martin Freeman ♥ and Bill Nighy.
And I was eating Ben&Jerry's Chunky Monkey ice cream and... they ate some too! LOLOLOL

- - - Mary McDonnell canceled her appearance at the London Film and Comic Con :((( That's TWO bigs cancellations!!! I want replacements for BSG and Heroes!!! *cough*Tahmoh*cough*
Okay, this also means I get to save money I guess... right?

- - - OKAY WORST DAY EVER AS FAR AS CONVENTIONS AND BSG GO. MICHAEL TRUCCO WON'T BE AT G3 NEXT WEEK. ;_____________________;
We're getting Alessandro Juliani instead though. BUT TRUCCO!!!!! I WAS SUPPOSED TO ASK HIM TO TOUCH HIS ARMS FOR KIM!!!!!! ;___________________;
(why can't we have TAHMOH as a replacement somewhere, uh?)

btw the program:
Registration Opens 17.00 Friday

Party each night from 22.00
Main activities 10.00 - 18.00 Saturday & Sunday

Veronica Mars is over...
:( Goodbye Neptune, I'm gonna miss you.
I'm sad because the show is over.
I'm frustrated because this was awful as a SERIES finale.
I'm bitter because the episodes were very good if you don't consider them as a finale and show the potential that still existed. But wasn't exploited in season 3.

Went to see PotC3 on the first day! Without spoiling anything I'd day it had too many characters, too many betrayals and unbetrayals and it got me very confused at first. Maybe I should have rewatched the second movie beforehands. I liked the second half way better and the final battle (come on, you all know this ends with a battle) is AWESOME. I was surprised by some things in the ending, not very classic. Not saying more because anyway not many people have seen it yet lol.
hobbitofkobol: (VM CAST chris kissing patrick flueger om)
Today was a lazy day. It was a holiday (celebration of the end of WWII) so my dad was home basically watching TV.

Watched Just Like Heaven. WTF did they do with the story from you know, the BOOK???

Then I watched Slither and I really enjoyed it. It was a bit gross (yeah I know it's a horror movie but they can be scary and not gross, right?) but I didn't mind. It was a bit funny and it had Nathan Fillion and Jenna Fischer (haha I knew she was in it so I was expecting her to show up at any moment and when she did... lol... domed to be a receptionist for ever? :p)

I think I really need to go. I mean, I left a comment at [livejournal.com profile] rack_of_lamb and Michael answered sth like "come out for breakfast!"
So it'd be very unpolite not to go, right? RIGHT?

I'm taking requests at my icon journal! (quotes only)

The BSG poll got very interested answers. And a HILARIOUS manip.
So far "Sleeves are kinda whorish" is winning with 28,6%. Angela would be so proud.

Speaking of very big arms, I almost choke on my dinner when my mom said this about some Rugby player invited on a TV program: "his arms are so big that he can't bend them!"
I guess she would approve of this poll! lol

ETA: I've just read that The Office (US) is FINALLY airing in France! On Canal + on June 3rd at 10:30pm!!!
They're the channel who adapted The Office in French (Le Bureau). I'm a bit scared of the dubbing but Canal + also airs its shows in original version. Too bad it's a paid channel :(
hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES BBM kiss)
I'm in complete awe of this video that you must all watch, srly. It made me all kinds of happy and brought me to tears of the same time. I can't believe it took me two weeks to realize it was out there!

It's the official videoclip for the song Aimer à perdre la raison sung by les Enfoirés (remember the concert I went to in January?). The song is about love, obviously, as the title translates as "Love until losing your mind" or sth. In the clip you barely see the artists, only a few seconds at the end.

It's basically Nathalie Baye, a French actress, sitting in a movie theater and watching various clips of very various movies featuring love under all its forms. And when I say various, I mean VARIOUS. There's Marylin Monroe movies, and Disney movies, and Baz Luhrmann movies, and French movies, and even SW or E.T.! I think it's awesome even if you don't understand French at all, all you need to know is that it's about love. The melody is very beautiful.

btw the concert is on TV tomorrow! yay! I'm SO gonna watch it. And look if I can see myself somewhere haha.

ETA: movies list! )
hobbitofkobol: (FOOTBALL FCN)
My Saturday night:

Rain: *falls*
Players: *suck*
FC Nantes: *diez and iz ded*
Me: ;___;
Rain: *falls even more more and more*

nah, we didn't lose, but everyone above us won, again! and, again, against teams supposed to be way better than them. *sigh*

Highlight of the day: last night I saw the end of the "Césars" which are basically the French Oscars and Little Miss Sunshine won Best Foreign Movie! YAY! Well, I'd be more pleased if they didn't beat Brokeback Mountain (nominated this year because it was released in France in early 2006) but still, nice.
Also, I saw Jude Law speak French. ^^ Sth like "don't forget, go to the movies, it's sexy" lmao.

Speaking of BBM, this commercial for Canal + is brilliant! Basically a girl talks about a movie she saw on TV and the other girl has no idea what it is and you see what she thinks it is in her head lol.

I translated the dialogue here )

hobbitofkobol: (LOTr what would gandalf do)
Remember my job interview back a month ago? After I re-wrote them an email, they finally wrote me a letter telling me I didn't get it. I was sure of that but come ON! I just don't get how companies can be so unpolite and don't tell you you don't get a job until you ask them. That's just rude and disrespectful. Unfortunately they all do that. And they call themselves human resources.

Watched some more Grey's Anatomy and there was Terrence Steadman from PB, Micah from Heroes and Duncan from VM! lol My mom recognized Duncan as she watches VM everyday with me now.

omg Chris Lowell and Kristen Bell are so cute )

Last night I watched Music&Lyrics on Danielle's recommandation... omg that was such a cute movie!!! and has Hugh Grant singing and shaking his butt dancing and being overall charming and very cute Drew Barrymore. The clip at the beginning made me laugh so much. The music is very addictive. I had a look on allocine.fr to see the French name of the movie and its release date... March 14th... and its name is now Le Come-Back. Ew. I mean, the purpose of a different name is to make it French-ier.

My internet is being wonky again... *sigh*
I'm writing this offline and my Office download cut at 51% :(( I want to see the JJ Abrams episode!

And gotta go, we have movie tickets expiring tonight so my mom and I are going to see sth... not sure what yet because there are no movies I'm dying to see right now... mmm...

Internet is working again! (for how long?) Huzzah! *posts before it cuts again*
hobbitofkobol: (BILLY sings)
I've just watched On a Clear Day on my TV ;)) YAY BILLY!!! I loved him in that movie! And my mom too lol. After a few minutes she said "isn't that a Hobbit? It's Pippin!"
Hours of showing her the LotR DVD extras finally paid off.

I was looking for some Friends bloopers on Youtube and I found some Enfoirés videos!

lolz if you want to see the kid from Les Choristes (The Choir) rap on La Tribu de Dana, well... in fact they all make me laugh, it's so not their thing but it's fun

[livejournal.com profile] gabsy, you need to watch the first one under the cut, there's Patrick Bruel in it lolz. And he's singing with a singer from Québec ;)

more under the cut to spare the flist )
