hobbitofkobol: (W13 team!)
I watched a terrible movie starring Scott Porter (and Alexis Bledel, it's called "The Good Guy"). I thought it was gonna be an average romcom to distract me and noooo it was awful. So after that I needed to erase it from my brain so I decided to watch a bit of FNL and now I've started a rewatch I think (my 1st rewatch of the show). I watched the 2 first episodes and I remembered how I didn't love them because of all the religious stuff. But now that I've seen all the show and am attached to the characters it was ok. And I got more emotional this 2nd time around lol, especially the 2 scenes Coach Taylor has with his QBs in the 2nd episode. Which reminds me... this skit's awesome, The Friday Night Lights Crying Method. I'm gonna miss this show so much when it's gone. :(

My mom had asked my sister-in-law to buy garlic for her (in a farm near her vacation spot or sth) and she joked that it would make vampires go away. So I told her there was no need as you just need not to invite them in. This is where the garlic is now lol.

Jed Whedon's album is awesome.

I've finished season 1 of The Good Wife. Excellent show.

I might have read too many Deathly Hallows movie spoilers. Oh well.

I've seen one of the remaining episodes of Better Off Ted. Still very sad this show's canceled. :( I can't remember where I saw this but someone somewhere said they'd like Phil and Lem to be Rachel's dads on Glee and now I want it to happen!

I wrote this for [livejournal.com profile] themiddleearth because that's the only type of creative writing challenge I do: silly crossovers. It's no beta-ed so it's probably full of English mistakes and all (especially in descriptions, I only enjoy writing dialogue) but it's not like I wanna do anything with it. I'm also pretty new to the Warehouse 13 fandom so I'm not sure I got the characters voices right but hey, this got me 51 pts for my team. But I like to keep everything I do archived somewhere.

"only" one week late, the pictures from the France 98 vs Random European Team game!

We were almost in the center of the field, second row but opposite to the... I don't know what the name in English is, the stand where all the officials and press are and the tunnel where the players come out from. It was a very warm day (got unexpected tan lines, fml), maybe the warmest in August (ugh the weather sucks this summer) but during the first half we had sunlight right into our eyes, which was annoying and made it difficult to take good pictures.

The teams were the 1998 World Champion France team (+ a few others who didn't actually win the cup but 16 of the 22 champions made it!) and random European players (the most famous one was Edgar Davids who actually got his eye surgery in our city years ago).

on to the pictures )

Movie meme:
Comment with “SHOWTIME!” and I will give you ten actors and ten actresses. Then post in your Livejournal with your favorite films of theirs.

I chose to mostly interpret this as "favorite movie in which these actors happen to star", not as "movie in which I like their performance best" if that makes sense.

[livejournal.com profile] marshmallow gave me:

The fellas:
01 - Jake Gyllenhaal : Brokeback Mountain (I also want to say Donnie Darko aaaaahhhhhhh)
02 - Morgan Freeman : Se7en
03 - Joseph Gordon-Levitt : Inception
04 - Viggo Mortenson : The Lord of the Rings
05 - Edward Norton : American History X
06 - Ewan McGregor : Moulin Rouge! (though my favorite performance of his is still Trainspotting)
07 - Brad Pitt : (lol his imdb page lists 28(!!!) in development projects) tough, he's been in a lot of movies I love... I've already said Se7en above... maybe Twelve Monkeys?
08 - Hugh Grant : Four Weddings and a Funeral (I'm not sure which one I love best, this one or Love Actually)
09 - Jason Bateman : Arrested Development: the movie Up in the Air
10 - Paul Rudd : Romeo + Juliet

The ladies:
01 - Kristen Bell : Fanboys (I've only seen her in 2 movies)
02 - Eva Green : Casino Royale
03 - Jennifer Connelly : A Beautiful Mind. Wow, I actually hate that movie. But apparently it's the only one I've seen of hers!
04 - Jane Lynch : The 40 Year Old Virgin. I've seen her a lot on TV but not in many movies!
05 - Tina Fey : Mean Girls
06 - Kate Winslet : Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2nd place: Finding Neverland)
07 - Gwyneth Paltrow : Se7en
08 - Cate Blanchett : The Lord of the Rings
09 - Nicole Kidman : Moulin Rouge!
10 - Julianne Moore : Children of Men

Anyone reading the Buffy comics? I read volume 6 ("Retreat") of season 8 last night (I always wait for volumes instead of issues so I'm always late to the party) and... (spoilers) )
hobbitofkobol: (MOVIES inception JGL suit up)
I saw Inception today (and in English! score!) and LOVED it. There's nothing I didn't like about it. (maybe except like [livejournal.com profile] gabsy said, what kind of name is Mal for a woman??? haha). Everything is pretty (scenery, special effects that serve the story, music, editing, JGL in a suit...), it's a complex story but not too confusing, the cast is amazing... I want to see it again! Was sad when it ended because it was over.

EPIC FAIL!!! I did rewatch a couple of movies like Toy Story but nothing new. I blame my very busy weekends/mini-trips and the World Cup.

TV episodes: 42
started to watch The IT Crowd and love it (up to 2x03)
also started Spaced but was only able to watch 2 episodes as the rest refused to be converted to mp4 for my trip, boo
and I found a guilty pleasure for the summer, Pretty Little Liars

Books: 3
~ Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan (3/5)
~ Pretty Little Liars by Sara Shepard (3/5)
~ Flawless by Sara Shepard (3/5)

my reading was soooo intellectual this month :p

Mid-year summary:
- 34 movies (32 of which I've reviewed)
- 14 books
- 423 TV episodes

SUMMER 2010 EDITION: GO VOTE

I nominated a lot of stuff because some categories were obvious to me and then random stuff that popped into my head because there was a lack of nominations for some categories. And for variety because some categories get the same noms every year, it's boring. Though I still voted for BSG for Best Score and for Serenity for Vehicle Most Loved by Its Captain/Pilot/Driver:
- Chuck as Best Hero
- Manny from Modern Family as Best Kid
- Caprica for Best Opening Sequence
- V for Best Remake
- The Dillon Panthers vs the East Dillon Lions from Friday Night Lights for Best Canon Rivalry
- Castle dresses up as "space cowboy" for Halloween for Best Canon Scene Overall
- Topher Brink from Dollhouse for Character Whose Refrigerator We'd Most Like To Raid
- Modern Family for Most Promising New Series
- Better off Ted for Series Most Deserving of Resurrection
- John Barrowman's flashback wig from Desperate Housewives for Worst Hair (have you seen it??? 1st 3 screencaps)

so go second my votes :p
(ok ok or vote for sth else entirely :p)

I spent today at my godmother's (used to be my mother's brother's wife) and she had a new kitten! So cute! My cousin was like, "it took 1 week for my mom to manage to grab her". Ten minutes later the kitty was purring in my arms. Mwhuahaha. I'm the Cat Whisperer.

Doctor Who was awesome. Can't wait for next week!!!
hobbitofkobol: (CHUCK hi)
as promised, here's the poll!

the part we're "casting" is a huge spoiler for the season 3 finale so I'm putting everything under a cut

who to play... )

Don't hesitate to link to this poll.
hobbitofkobol: (BTVS giles + TV)
Yes, I'm already bored. Which is ridiculous because I don't usually have anything to watch on this day of the week.

But I actually have quite a lot of shows I got from [livejournal.com profile] benelie or downloaded back when I had a very fast internet and plenty of HD space.

As usual it's really hard for me to decide what to watch. I often have a hard time getting into a show, or even finding the motivation to start it at all. Once I'm a few episodes in and it has hooked me, I'm hooked for good. (note: somehow it's different if I start watching the show as it premieres on TV, go figure).

If you could comment with reasons why I should watch a certain show/why I would like it, that'd help too!

You can always suggest me other stuff but my slow internet is annoying when I need to dld entire seasons and I don't have much space left on my hard drives (2 internal and 2 external aaaaaah) so...

Yes, I know, most of these were already in a similar poll I made last year...

[Poll #1572491]

Speaking of polls, remember when I made a True Blood Fantasy Casting Poll? Turns out we were psychic because the guy who won the poll was cast as Alcide for real. So I was thinking of doing one for a ~certain role~ on Chuck (I'm being cryptic because I have at least one friend who's not caught up with season 3 :p). If you've seen the finale, you know whom I mean! So... any suggestions?

PS: stop making me want to cry, Giacchino!

- Revolutionary Road (4/5)
- The Express (3.5/5)

TV episodes: 81
nothing special, just your regular May Sweeps :p
my list of episodes to watch in June... so few!

Books: 3
~ Ni d'Eve, ni d'Adam by Amélie Nothomb (4/5)
~ The Rain Before It Falls by Jonathan Coe (5/5)
~ Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris (4/5)
hobbitofkobol: (LOST confused lostday)
Um so I began to write this just after I saw it, which was Wednesday afternoon, but then I got too lazy to finish...

Saying goodbye to the icon I'm using now...

my thoughts about the finale )

now some thoughts on the TV I caught up with:
30 Rock: Matt Damon dancing hahaha. Nuff said.
Bones: Hodgins speaking French is hot. What? What plot? Oh yeah, this end is intriguing, I wonder when the next season will begin (in-series timeline, not the date of the premiere lol).
Chuck: awesome finale again! wow this show keeps changing but stays so good
Doctor Who: fun with a side of creepy, yay part 2 tonight
FlashForward: I enjoyed the last 2 episodes (Team John Cho & Dom!!! :D), it would have made a good season finale but alas it's a series finale so...
Glee: I enjoyed it this week. The outfits were hilarious and I liked the songs. And Kurt's dad FTW.
Grey's Anatomy: surprisingly, one of the best finales! Part of it reminded of ER (another very dangerous workplace lol). It was a bit like "let's get rid of the people we don't want as regulars next year!" though.
HIMYM: didn't really like this season finale... why aren't you funny anymore, show?
Community, Parks&Rec, The Big Bang Theory: not their best episodes but solid finales
Parenthood: as usual it's not extraordinary but the characters feel real and the emotions genuine.

Almost everything's on hiatus now. :(
According to my calendar, I only have 18 episodes scheduled to air in June.
But I have plenty of stuff stored in hard drives and on DVDs to watch! Like Life on Mars (UK of course)! Maybe I'll also try Farscape (my dad owns a few seasons on DVD). And watch the dozens of movies I own and haven't seen yet!

Have seen Chuck (fun!!!), HIMYM (meh, though it had some good moments) and TBBT (aww Sheldon). Now hurry up, Castle download! Need my Fillion&Trucco fix!

Started packing for the London/Echo-1 trip. Because yes, it takes me 2 days for my brain to remember everything I need to bring.

Speaking of Echo-1, anyone got questions for Dichen Lachman, Miracle Laurie, Fran Kranz or Tahmoh Penikett? I can totally make [livejournal.com profile] benelie ask them. :p
