20 Question Beatle Survey ♥
1. How long have you been a Beatles fan? and 2. How did you discover the Beatles?
I can't really remember. Not at a very early age because my parents don't listen to a lot of music. And I only started to learn English when I was 10. I think my 1st Beatle-related memory is the song Rockollection by Laurent Voulzy because it includes a whole verse about the Beatles and he sings a bit of A Hard Day's Night (I only realized years later that he was describing the movie). I still love this song haha. Then for some reason I remember She Loves You. Maybe because the chorus is very easy to understand when you're just learning English? But I only started to listen to The Beatles maybe 10 years ago? It's something I picked on my own, no one recommended them to me, I just did.
3. Which "era" (early, mid or late) do you prefer and why?
I love all eras. Some people disdain the early years but I love them. The songs are catchy, they make me wanna dance, they just make me happy. And some of them are really really good. And then in later years I might not love every song to death but the creativity and the many styles they did... it's just crazy in a awesome way.
4. Which album(s) is your favourite and why?
It changes everyday! I don't think I can pick one. Maybe Rubber Soul. idk idk idk!
5. Which album(s) is your least favourite and why?
I guess Beatles For Sale. Least memorable songs overall?
6. What are your top 10 Beatles songs?
songs 1 to 4 are in order but the rest... pffft that's way too hard

Could have made the list on another day: Something, I'm Down, All My Loving, Across the Universe, Lady Madonna, If I Fell, Help!, Norwegian Wood (This bird has flown), I saw her standing there, Things We Said Today, Revolution, Eleanor Rigby, I'm only sleeping, For no one, A Hard Day's Night, Strawberry Fields Forever, Penny Lane, Glass Onion... and I love the songs featured in AHDN and Help! in general because they remind me of the scenes in the movies haha
7. Are there any Beatles songs you really don't like?
Duh, Revolution 9. Wild Honey Pie. Also, never been a fan of Hello Goodbye. I used to dislike The Long and Winding Road but now I like it thanks to Let It Be... Naked.
8. What are your views on each of the Beatles' films?
A Hard Days Night: LOVE it
Help!: LOVE it
Magical Mystery Tour: haven't seen it :( can't find it
Let It Be: a bit depressing but interesting and when they're performing together it's always a treat!
Yellow Submarine: I wish the boys had done the voices themselves. It's weird, but in a good way.
9. Do you have a favourite Beatle? If so, who and why?
Yes, Paul. He just happens to have written most of my favorite songs. And he was always pushing the others to stay together and do crazy stuff like Sgt Pepper or the Get Back project. And he wrote songs to make his friends' kids feel better aww (Hey Jude, Little Willow). And says things like "animation is also for adults on drugs" or "We've always liked to associate ourselves with slightly crazy people cause we're slightly crazy."
And I saw him live, which is unfair to the others, but what can you do.
And he's such a cutie haha.

Beautiful Boy.

14. How do you feel about Yoko?
First: lol. I don't think she broke up The Beatles by herself like some people think. She certainly didn't help by being there all the time in the studio (seriously, if you've seen Let It Be, you know what I mean, it's creepy) but let's not forget it was John who wanted her there. I don't like her ~contributions~ to The Beatles' and John's music and what I heard about how she treated Julian. But at least she didn't veto any of the projects such as Anthology or LOVE and even helped by providing tapes. And I just watched the documentary about LOVE and I found myself agreeing with her once haha. When the choregraphy for Come Together was sleazy.
15. How do you feel about Beatle slash?
RPF makes me uncomfortable in general so...
16. How do you feel about John's relationship with Brian?
lol no I'm not going to comment on that.
17. Is there more to your love of the Beatles than just their music?
Yes. I love their personalities and sense of humour.
18. Are the Beatles actually the greatest band in the history of music? Are they your favourite?
Well yes, but as they're my favourite I can't really be impartial, can I? They influenced so many people, were always up for experimenting new ways of making music (Sgt Pepper, anyone?), pushing people to make it happen (like that French horn guy who had to play a not beyond the range of his instrument). And 40 years after they break up they still are so popular. They're a frickin' Cirque du Soleil show and a video game!
19. Tell me one unusual/controversial opinion you have on the Beatles.
idk... maybe that I do like the early era too?

the thing about John and Brian is because Brian was gay and once they went on vacation together *rolls eyes*
I could write way more about them hahaha. Oh you know, it's hard to pick favorites... I tried to pick the ones that make me physically feel sth the most (if that makes sense?). It can be because of the lyrics, the melody, the singing...
Looking at it again, I'm pretty happy with my list because it has 4 Paul songs, 3 John songs, 1 John&Paul, 1 George and the medley

It totally makes sense. When I listen to "Tell Me What You See" for example, I just feel this sudden warm rush all through my veins, as if I were in love.

you need to compile your own list! I was comparing mine with other friends' and they're totally different and I'm like "oh I wish I'd have included this one too! and that one!". SO many...
oh btw I just bought "here there and everywhere: recording with the beatles" by Geoff Emerick, it promises to be interesting!
and I bought the DVD of A Hard Day's Night, it has several hours of extras apparently ahem
