Once again, found a link to see the ceremony online and spammed Twitter about it. Which was really fun.

My favorite parts of the ceremony were brought by my favorite people

Best moments
- I haven't seen Precious yet but Mo'Nique's speech was so touching!
- John Lithgow & Michael C Hall win (yay best season since season 1!). MCH <33. That was long overdue! Such a class act, announcing his cancer AFTER the votes were closed.
(though I was also rooting for Emerson & NPH - damn them for having comedy & drama in the same category)
- Macca introduces the animated films, calling himself "that guy from Rock Band" and saying that "animation is not only for children, but also for adults who take drugs". Also, I was wtf at 1st bc they used Yellow Submarine as Ringo sings but then I realized it was related to the category ahem.
- Michael Giacchino wins (he's one of my 3 favorite composers, with Bear McCreary & Howard Shore) (& fanboys Macca who winks at him haha)
- combining NPH+Jane & Zach+Amy, great combos!
- Meryl Streep > you. I didn't really like Julie&Julia but Meryl can do no wrong.
- Toni Collette wins!
- Glee wins!!! awwww I was actually rooting for Modern Family but I love Glee & its adorable cast. & it's nice to see sth so different from your usual comedy win. Be original, people!
- Julianna Marguiles wins and stops on her way to the stage to kiss George Clooney awwwwwwwwww. Doug/Carol 4evah. + her subtle NBC joke.
- RDJ's awesome speech!!!
- Jeff Bridges saying "You're really screwing up my 'underappreciated' status here."

Worst moments
- Ricky Gervais was unfunny and using the ceremony to promote everything he ever did
- Foxy + Sofia Vergara = WTF combo
- ppl who present an award looking bored and saying the bare minimum
- Jane Lynch lost :(
- Alec Baldwin wins and he's not even there (it annoys me when that happens)
- boring wins: Alec Baldwin & Mad Men *yawns* is it last year?
- James Cameron is so pompous... "look at me, using a language *I* made up!"
- The Governator doesn't know how to pronounce Avatar

nope, no rant about Avatar winning! ...as I haven't seen any of the other movies yet so I can't really judge
imho Avatar is a great movie experience, I really enjoyed it in the theater... but beyond the pretty it's (Disney's) Pocahontas in outer space (except that I like the song from Pocahontas)

and Avatar didn't win. "Awadah" did.

and The Hangover? errrr I did enjoy it, it was funny but award-worthy?

Movies I need to see before the Oscars
- Inglorious Basterds
- Up in the air
- Precious
- Sherlock Holmes (du-uh, is it Feb 3 yet? must. resist. screener.)
- The Hurt Locker
...

I probably forgot a few things... oh well

check out [livejournal.com profile] green_queen's Jossverse actors picspam, they're so adorable

I didn't manage staying awake so I'll have to watch once it's uploaded. :)
MCH winning made me so happy, though! <3 I haven't seen anything since season 1 but even back then he deserved it!
The whole Alec Baldwin/30 Rock craze annoys me to no end. There ARE other shows/actors out there.
Ditto on the movies to watch, except IB which I have already seen. I resisted it for long but loved it and I hope C. Waltz wins the Oscar, too! Haven't seen Avatar yet, either, and I don't think I will, so I can't judge if it's really SO much better than the others.

I'm so so so happy for MCH. I rewatched his speech and John Lithgow & Jennifer Carpenter's reactions almost made me cry.
You forgot the Jim/Lauren combo :)
I was sooooooooo surprised to see Glee winning !
I'm kinda glad Alec Baldwin wasn't there because I was so pissed to see him win (AGAIN !) and I'm pretty sure I would have been annoyed by his speech.

AVADAH WON xD

Living in France is kinda annoying since most of the movies nominated haven't been released here yet.

I didn't forget about them! But I have yet to witness Lauren's awesomeness because I've never watched Gilmore Girls (it's on my "shows with a zillion seasons and a bit old so it's so damn hard to dld" list) but I liked the Parenthood promos.

I know! so frustrating! I'm gonna have to dld screeners to get into the mood for the Oscars...

Yeah someone who was also rooting for "Modern Family"!

I think I am the only person in the world who didn't like The Hangover. I mean I am usually a sucker for US comedies but I think I laughed once during that movie. :(

I'm so happy for Michael, he deserves it so much. He finally has the recognition he needed since Six Feet Under! :)
I had no idea Michael Giacchino, his work on LOST is fantastic!

Shock! I can't believe you didn't like Avatar! You're crazy, girl. This year was the shits for movies, and that one not only stands out in a bad year, but would have stood out in a good one. I can't say it's perfect, but I really hate all the comparisons to other films. Every film ever is a product of its past. There is certainly a fine line between architypical and cliche, but I think its simplistic story is done in a way to resonate with the most people the world over. Is it Pocahontas, Dances With Wolves, Ferngully, or Star Wars? All of those movies are different, so how can it be all things at once? It borrows from many different films, then gives a new spin. I can't think of a single movie that is truly unique.

That said, it certainly shouldn't be winning any script awards. Still, if you're looking for the best film as a complete entity, there's really not a whole lot of competition. I would argue that Titanic was probably a bit more of "the whole package" (it actually got legitimate acting and maybe screenwriting nominations), but Avatar will stand the test of time. The Hurt Locker? It's already forgotten.

Though Inglourious Basterds is probably the closest shot. I wouldn't be upset with that win, either, come Oscar time.

And WTF no Modern Family? You want to talk flawed, let's talk Glee...

I didn't not like Avatar, I really enjoyed it. It was like nothing I had ever seen before (and my first 3D experience). I was actually discussing it with my family this weekend, like how we *knew* that the creatures and Nav'is were not real and yet they looked so good that you felt like they were real.

But there's just something missing for me, not only was the story too familiar, but I predicted all the "twists" while watching it, like "ok so this big bird thing that no one can ride, of course the hero is gonna do it" or "ok so they won't save her with the magic tree, but it'll come handy at the end for the hero so that he can have the use of his legs and stay with the Nav'is."

BUT I haven't seen any of the other movies (am planning to do so but most of them aren't out here yet! ugh) so I'm reserving judgement. Not that I'm a movie expert (I'm really not, I'm only talking about how I feel) anyway lol.

And what I meant about "no rant about Avatar winning" was not that I was about to write one, but that I have quite a lot of friends on LJ who ranted about it so it was different from most of the other posts I've read about it.

The comedy noms were weird anyway, I can't believe they're still nominating Entourage and The Office when there are at least 5 shows funnier these days.

I'm not a movie expert by any means, either! I have my opinions just like everyone else, and they're hardly based in any real expertise. But, I've seen the other nominees and was not overwhelmed in the same was I was literally overwhelmed in that 3D Imax theater. All fine projects, but not perfect. Neither, by any means, is Avatar! But in the midst of that group, it absolutely stands apart.

It's looking like it's another Titanic: billions of dollars to show that it has millions of fans, but definitely a very vocal minority group of haters who are unable or unwilling to see the positive merits of either film, no matter what.

I don't even watch Dexter but I was SO happy for MCH :)

but Mo'Nique's speech was so touching!

She was totes adorable, loved her speach!

The Governator doesn't know how to pronounce Avatar

I found it incredibly funny,I couldn't breathe because I was laughing so hard *g*

I saw Up in the Air (rather boring,I don't get all the nominations) and Sherlock Holmes (RDJ = AWESOME!). The Hurt Locker is also on my to watch list, the rest not so much...

Aw, I'm happy Julianna won and shared a moment with George:) To this day, Doug/Carol remains one of my favorite OTPs! I'll have to hunt down a clip on YT to see that NBC joke:)

Happy for Glee but how the frak could Jane Lynch lost?! If anything, I would've gone the opposite way.

I don't think I've seen any of the movies that were nominated this year so I didn't tune in to see who won. It's no fun when you can't judge how wrong/right the voters were:)

"The Governator doesn't know how to pronounce Avatar"

...one of the worst moments? It was one of the highlights for me! XD

I'm happiest for MCH and John Lithgow. I definitely agree with you that S4 was the best since S1, and a lot of it was due to those two. ♥

I've never cried at a movie like that (er, but in a good way?), the preformences are amazing Mo'Nique as Mary is so raw, Gaby as Clarice is crazy amazing, and Mariah as a social worker & w/o make-up =whoa! lol j/k Okay this is my long-winded way of recomending this to you. ;)

Plus, I <3 Drew Barrymore and Robert DiNiro speech about Scorecese's "lost films" haha!
