Poll time!

Here it is, the TV BFFs polls.

Notes:
- The list was built on suggestions from my flist :)
- Relatives, animals & inanimate objects have been excluded, as well as pairings that tend to be seen as romantic by most
- Best friends doesn’t mean “best main character & their sidekick”
- In alphabetical order of the shows

Please don’t vote automatically for all the pairings from all your fandoms. Only vote for the ones that really embody friendship in your opinion.

Feel free to link people here.

ETA: I forgot to include "other: please comment" in the answers. *facepalm*
But you know you can!

Kate and Sun? Are they even? haha... Also, I'm a little sad I didn't see the post to do suggestions because Carrie & Miranda (Sex and the City) are totally the understood best-friends of the series, not Carrie & Samantha. They would have been high on my list.

And even though they don't show it enough on screen (though it's obvi implied), I love Kara and Helo together as friends.

LOL I reacted the same way to Kate and Sun. I was like, what?

[identity profile] just-float.livejournal.com 2008-07-05 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I think they only had one conversation ever. I think it was when Kate mentioned something about her having been preggers at one time when Sun was talking about her pregnancy. That's all I can remember

aw sorry, I wouldn't know, I've only seen a couple of random episodes

yay Kara&Helo! I love them, and from what I understand Katee and Tahmoh have worked out a background story about that lol

oh shoot, I totally forgot to include a "other, please comment" answer! I meant to

Oh no no no I wasn't accusing you for the oversight! I was just expressing surprise that someone submitted that one and not Carrie & Miranda. I love this survey, thanks for putting it together, girl! I can't wait to see the results.

Have they spoken in public about the backstory they've worked out?

The (unofficial) backstory Tahmoh Penikett and Katee Sackhoff came up with to explain a comment from Thrace in "Scattered" that she and Helo "go way back" is that the two were old friends for a long time who most likely attended the academy together as cadets and as "drinking buddies."

One close person Helo hasn’t lost from his life on Caprica is best gal-pal and fellow officer, Starbuck. While the origin of their friendship hasn’t been shown on screen, it is obvious the two have a strong bond together that goes beyond friendship. “Katie and I made choices a long time ago, initially in the mini-series you have the fight scenes. I mean we are old friends and we have been through a lot together. I have been asked this question before, but I think it is pretty safe to bet that we were either in the academy together or we have known each other for years. Whether there has ever been a romantic relationship, that is definitely a possibility—especially with Starbuck,” he jokes. “It could have been a one night stand, but there is in fact a relationship. We are more like brother and sister, and have been through a lot together. Helo really understands Starbuck and she understands him. They are a lot closer than most people think.”

I also love Liz & Jenna from 30 Rock, Brooke & Peyton from OTH season 5, Desmond & Sayid from Lost, Boone & Locke from Lost.

Here's my two cents for "other":

Kirk & Bones from Star Trek
Sam & Al from Quantum Leap

I'd add in Ted & Emmett from Queer as Folk. Or Emmett & Michael. Or Emmett and everyone. I think he was an amazing friend to all in that show!

I also love Bernard & Fran from Black Books.
